Create A Life Worth Remembering (One Little Exercise)

Will You Remember Last Month?

A good friend once told me: “If you can’t name at least ten good days from last year, you need to change your life. For what else are you living then?”

Great question!

How many days from last year do you remember?

How many days from last month do you remember?

And what about five years ago, how many days from five years ago do you remember?

Days which were as good as it gets? Days with your kids, partner, traveling, partying, or accomplishing a big goal.

How many can you count?

Less than 10?

I am not saying every day should be like a spectacular movie. But if you can’t name 20 good days, what else is there?

I want to remember between 100 to 200 days a year to call it a good year. But I believe it’s best to set your own metrics. Maybe 50 great days are enough for you, or perhaps you want to go for 300.

Think Big

You are the master of your life, and only you can decide what a great day is for you.

So, don’t beat yourself up if you become aware that there weren’t a lot of fun days last year. Acknowledge it and resolve that you will get more fun, more action, and more happiness into your life this year.

If it’s possible, plan a vacation, a family reunion or an exciting night out with your friends immediately.

If not, don’t sweat it, but take action to design your life so that you will be able to do the things you want to do, whenever you want to do them.

Life is short

Why live it paycheck to paycheck. Being dead already, only to wait till somebody else makes it official by setting a stone on your grave?

Think how you can create days living, days worth remembering. And then create them.

Book a vacation, plan a weekend getaway, drive out of town, and play with your kids.

This is your life. What do you want? How do you want to feel? Where do you want to live? And what do you want to experience?

Go and experience it.

How Many Days Can You Remember Wich Were Good, Great, And Fun Last Year?

Days you lived?

Go, create these days!

And go, get what you want!

  2. If you are content with your number: Congratulations you seem to have an awesome life.
  3. If not, don’t sweat it, but think about how you can increase the number of days which are worth remembering to you and set a plan in motion to create them.
